ADOPT A design style

I have found the best way to decorate a home you and your family will love is to start first with a design style and stick to it throughout the entire house.

Keeping the same design style is a budget saver because you can shop your home for decor pieces as you re-decorate your space.

Light it up

Upgrading the light fixtures is the easiest and most inexpensive way to give your home a new and lavish look.

Add a statement light fixture to the living room to elevate the space.

A tall floor lamp will be an attractive focal point for the dining room or living room.

An affordable upgrade is to buy cylinder lamp shades or drums to freshen up your existing lights.

Color the walls

Painting the rooms is another easy way to make your space appear classy and attractive.

Choose colors that match the existing style of the home. Neutrals work wonders in creating a plush appearance.

Study the latest trends in home décor and choose the right shades.

If painting the whole house doesn’t suit your pocket, create one accent wall.

You can use wallpaper, any bold color, or paint the wall using your creative ideas to make a room look exciting.

USE LARGE PLANTS

When in doubt always, always, use a larger plant over a smaller over.

I know this may seem costly at first but it is so worth it.

A larger plan will obviously take up for space, hence, making any space look fully furnished and decorated.

Give your furniture a facelift

A luxury sofa makes a room come alive. Similarly, new chairs or beds can lift the spirit.

However, if this strains your budget, go for innovative makeovers.

A slipcover for the old sofa will do wonder to your living room.

Give the old chairs a new appearance by changing their fabric.

Another great interior decorating idea is hanging curtains from the ceiling.

Choose a light and sheer fabric that will allow natural light to filter.

Changing the hardware of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets will also freshen up your home.

I went with these when I painted my kitchen cabinets.

They are available in a variety of sizes and are inexpensive.

Fancy knobs and handles in glass or metal will have a dramatic effect on the décor.

Accessorize your home

It is one of the most useful interior styling tips.

To make your home look expensive but on a budget, choose the right accessories.

Invest in a few statement pieces. A mirror in an unusual shape, a small statue for the mantelpiece, coffee table books, and succulents in colorful pots – make sure the items stand out to give character to your living space.

For a warm feeling, use inexpensive frames to showcase old photographs, your kids’ artworks, or paintings.

Add a rug

How to make your home look expensive?

An easy answer would be to add a rug.

I truly believe in this tip, a rug makes a huge difference.

I picked out several rugs for my home and this one is my favorite.

Small area rugs in luxurious materials like silk or wool help in creating harmony in home décor.

It pulls all the styling elements together.

Update the flooring

You may be surprised by how just updating the flooring in your home can make a big difference.

You can have the perfect furniture and home decor selection but if the floors are dated, then nothing will make sense.

Nowadays there are many DIY friendly flooring options like, peel and stick vinyl flooring.

Add Drapery

Although it may seem old fashion to add curtains and drapes to your home, they are still in style.

They create a warm and cozy feeling in any room of your home.

By investing in the right curtains, you will have many options to choose from and to style them to your liking.
