Today I thought it would be fun to share how I tackled my tiny closet makeover, and how I turned it into an organized space.
My goal was to give this closet a new look but on a budget.
A few years ago I had a well-known closet organization company come out for an estimate, and they asked for a total of three thousand dollars, I said no thank you.
So I was left with one option, to take on a DIY project. The first step was to purge and clean out the entire closet and to remove those ugly wired shelves.
I am almost embarrassed to share this, but below is a picture of what the closet looked like.
As you can see, I wasn’t making the best use of the space at all.
Following the purge, I began my research to brainstorm some ideas.
The first step was to purchase the closet system, you see below which was a great investment.
However, my drywall would not let me great, so I could not install it as a closet system with the rods.
Instead, I ended up using the closet system as a closet organizer (you’ll see what I mean later).
I then found longer rods to fit the space which I installed one at the top and the other about halfway down the wall, giving me a total of two rods in the closet to hang my clothes.
What a difference a shelf, organizing baskets, and greenery makes.
I am not a pro a wallpapering, but I thought could tackle it by myself.
It took a few tries, and I think it turned out great.
This pair of metal trays added the perfect farmhouse touch to the close, and they make the perfect “catch-all” for my makeup palettes and other items.
The fashion wall art images are from an artist on Etsy, and I got them printed online at Office Depot.
The last step was to install lighting. I picked up this gorgeous crystal chandelier, see more of it here.
After reading this post and looking at the pictures of my tiny closet makeover, I hope you are inspired to create a DIY closet you will love no matter how big or small.
I was discouraged after I realized the custom was not in my budget.
With a little patience, creativity, hard work, and less than $700 in spending cost, I was able to create a space I love.
I hope you will do the same.
